It's no secret New Zealand has some of the best fly fishing to offer in the world.  Over The Top - the helicopter company specialises in personalised fly fishing charters. Our base in Queenstown allows us to provide efficient access to the many remote rivers and streams in the area. Several of our favourite spots have huts available. Either novice or expert,  we can tailor-make half day to week long fishing excursions to suit individual or group needs.

SEASON: New Zealand's river fly fishing season runs from November through to the end of May.

WEATHER: As the season is during our summer, expect mild temperatures.  The warmest months are January, February and March when 18 to 25° C , 64 to 77°F is common. 

WATERS:  The pristine mountain rivers and streams we utilise are not accessible by road thus ensuring a true wilderness experience. 

FISH: Sight fishing for Brown and Rainbow Trout. Averaging 4-5lbs.

TACKLE: Medium weight rods,  floating lines, dry fly and nymph.

GUIDES:  Fully concessioned professional guides specialising in fly fishing only.  Parties are limited to two anglers per guide.

INTRODUCTION TO FLY FISHING   Our helicopter will whisk you away to a remote wilderness river where your guide will instruct you in the timeless art of fly fishing.  Spend your afternoon casting to the wild spawned trout that inhabit these beautiful waters.  
The day's fishing will conclude, with your guide radioing for helicopter pickup. Armed with new knowledge you'll soon be sharing those fishing tales at the hotel. Includes transfers, guide services, licenses, and fishing equipment.

GUIDED HELI FLY FISHING Unlimited remote fishing waters offering spectacular scenery, spirited fish and helicopter flights unsurpassed anywhere in the world.
Prices differ due to the distance of specific fishing spots from Queenstown and include transfers, guide services, licenses, fishing equipment, concession fees, return helicopter flight and lunch.  Often a non-fishing partner will join us on the afternoon pickup flight to spend some time on the river.
